Killed by Lightning.
Muncie, Ind., Oct. 4.-Joseph Simpson, a farm laborer, aged forty years, was killed by lightning while at work on the farm of John Fullhart, four miles southeast of Muncie. He was engaged in sawing logs when a shower came up. John Gray, sixteen years old, was working with Simpson and when it commenced raining he started to a building near by when Simpson took shelter under large tree, leaning against its trunk. The lightning passed down the body the tree and off on Simpson. His was torn to shreds, his boots cut pieces, and other portions of his apparel rent to atoms, while he fell dead. Simpson is said to be cousin to General U. S. Grant, their mothers being sisters. The remains were brought to Muncie this afternoon.
