Rev. J. E. Rutherford died last evening, at 6:29 o'clock, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E. H. Hoy, on West Seventh street. He and his wife came to this city from Bluffton about five weeks ago for a visit with their daughter , and was taken so ill that her could not return. Mr. Rutherford is an old resident of this city, he being eighty-five years old, and live forty years of his life here. For many years he was pastor of the United Brethren church of this city. He was well known, and had many friends, who will greatly regret to hear of his death.
