Roach Murdered
Notorious Character Was a Terror When Intoxicated
Dick Roach, who was murdered in a saloon brawl at Chicago Heights, was well known in Muncie, and particularly in police county, He was here at different times for several years and was employed at the Humphries glass house. When not intoxicated he was acongenial person, but when he was drunk he was a terror, even to his friends. Roach was a big man and was as stout as three or four ordinary men. After taking several drinks he would become quarrelsome and generally had no trouble getting into a fight. He was often arrested for intoxication and assault and battery. Although he earned a reputation as a terror to police, in other cities, he never offered to resist one of the Muncie officers.
