Suicide Last Saturday, But Matter Quiet
Said To Have Been No Funeral Service-Coroner Did Not Sign Death Certificate
William Redwine, Age 53

William Redwine, age 53 years, until recently a resident of Avondale, committed suicide at the Delaware county infirmary,
east of Muncie, last Saturday night by slashing his throat with a razor, but news of the act leaked out Thursday afternoon,
and then only be accident did it become known. The body was buried in the infirmary cemetery Monday morning without
a funeral servvice, it is said. Ill health is given as a cause for the suicide. Redwine was taken to the infirmary a week ago,
after being confined in a local hospital by sicness for several weeks. The death certificate, permitting the burial of the body,
was not issued by Coroner Downing but by Dr. G. C. Pritchett, county attorney. Dr. Pritchett gives "slashed throat, nervous
shock and hemorrhage" as a cauuse for death and, on the certificate, says he last saw him alive "May 19". Communications
with Coroner Downing could not be had late this afternoon. It is believed, however, that he was not notified of the death.
No reason is given for Redwine's act not being given publicity. Redwine is said to have a brother and a sister residing in
Avondale. It is understood he made his home with them. Presumably he was unmarried and his occupation was unknown.
His name is not listed in the city directory recently published.
