Daily Muncie (Indiana) News
Died. In the city at six o'clock last evening, Martha Patterson aged 85 years. Grandma Patterson, as our citizens called her, was the mother of Arthur F. Patterson of our city and Giles Patterson, of Yorktown. She was born in Lynchburg, Virginia. Her parents dying she emigrated with Uncle Joel Bragg, about the year 1814 to Bracken County, Ky., where she was soon married to Anderson Patterson. She removed with her husband to Clermont County, Ohio, in 1828 where in 1830 she became a member of the Baptist Church. Her husband died in 1840 and because of financial reverses left his family destitute and dependent upon the deceased. The boys learned trades and when in 1850 they came to Delaware county, she came with them, living with Giles two years and ever since with Arthur F. Her funeral will take place to-morrow at 2 o'clock from the Baptist Church, Rev. B. Smith officiating.
Mrs. Patterson, whose illness was spoken of on the News yesterday, died at twilight last evening, at the residence of her grand-daughter, Mrs. Dan Huffer, on east Adams street.
