Obituary
Mariah Nixon, daughter of Richard and Lavina Craw, was born in Clinton county, ohio, Dec 1 1831, and was joined in marriage April 9, 1852. She joined the M E church in her eleventh year, under the Ministry of Rev John W Bowers, of the North Indiana Conference, and continued a constant member of the same to the day of her death. She loved the house of God, but for some years past her feeble health prevented her from attending upon the means of grace as often as she desired to. But her faith in the blood that cleanses was grand. On last Wednesday evening she said to her Pastor that she could confidently leave all in the hands of the Savior, and in the same conversation she referred to some wonderful baptisms of power that she received. But said now it is sweet peace. Her greatest struggle was to leave her husband and a little child she had taken to raise. But victorious grace helped her to place all these in the hands of the Lord. She was ardently attached to her friends, sending messages of love to many, whom were Mrs Winton, Mrs March, Mrs burson, Mrs B Smith, Mrs L A Kirkwood, Mrs Marsh, Mrs Putnam, Mrs C P Streeter, Mrs Wachtell, and others. "tell them I am going home; I am going." She departed this life Nov 8 1879 at 2:30 am. Aged, 47 years, 11 months, and 7 days.
