Resolutions on the death of William McAlister, as adopted by the Cross Roads Union Sabbath School, of Salem Township Delaware County. Whereas, It has seemed good to the Almighty disposer of events to remove from our midst our late Worthy Brother William McAlister; and Whereas, The intimate relation held by the deceased with the Cross Roads Union Sabbath School, we as a school deem it proper that we should place upon record our appreciation of him as a member of our school. Resolved, That we deplore the loss of Brother William McAlister, and our regret is only softened by the confident hope that our loss has been his eternal gain. Resolved, That we tender to his afflicted family our eanest sympathy in their affliction by the loss of a good husband and kind father; we can only recommend them an humble trust in God, as he trusted; and an exemplary life, as he lived; that when they are called hence they may meet all their friends who have been thus faithful. Resolved. That while he is missed in his class as a faithful scholar, and in school as a faithful and consistant member, we will endeavor to profit by this solumn call from God, and earnestly pray that we may labor more faithfully in this grand and glorious work until we are all safely housed with him in eternal bliss. Resolved, That a copy of these be sent to each of our county papers for publication and one to the family of the deceased. Josiah Cromer} Joseph Shirey} Com. Jacob Swingley} |
