Death of Aaron Martin
Mr. Aaron Martin, a well-known and prosperous farmer who resided about two miles North of Selma died at ten minutes past three o'clock this morning from the effects of an accident that occurred last Sunday afternoon. A horse which one of Mr. Martin's sons had unhitched from a vehicle took fright and started to run. A part of the harness in some way caught in a hay rake that was standing in the barn yard and the frightened animal ran with the rake being jerked about about in a most promiscuous way. Mr. Martin fearing that his son would be injured went to his assistance and in an effort to catch the horse was struck in the breast by the rake. His injuries were regarded as serious from the first, and a physician was summoned. All that medical skill could do was done but to no avail, and death came at the hour above indicated. Mr. Martin leaves a wife and five children, four sons and a daughter, to mourn his untimely death. The funeral will be held on Sunday.
