At 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon, a large can of gunpowder in John Keener's grocery, in the Tremont House.near the depot, at Muncie, exploded wrecking the building badly and fatally injuring the proprietor. The building ia a large, second-rate hotel, with a grocery and saloon down stairs. Keener was running the grocery and hotel. Keener's wife was in an adjoining room and was severely bruised and her clothing fired. Keener had been on a big spree and had threatened to exterminate the whole family. The stock of groceries is a total loss; $2,000 will probably cover the loss on building.
