Twice during the past week has the tolling of the bell made the sad announcement that another soul had rushed into the Great Beyond. The last time it was for Thomas Hoppings who died early Friday morning at his home in Smithfield. He had been afflicted for the past few weeks with lung fever, but he bore all his suffering with patience, and appreciated all the kindness shown him by friends and loved ones. He was an honest, industrious, and best of all a Christian man and when the end was approaching, he expressed sudmission to the devine will and was not afraid of the future. Trusting in a loving Father, he fell sweetly asleep. Besides a host of friends and other relatives he leaves a wife and three children to mourn their loss. The funeral occurred at the M. E. church, at 10 o'clock a.m. Monday, conducted by Rev. B. S. Hollopeter. Interment at Mt. Tabor cemetery.
