Ezekiel Hoppings, one of the prominent farmers of this township died on his farm about one
half mile northwest of Smithfield Saturday morning Aug 22, 1894, after a very brief illness.
The subject of this sketch was norn in Green county, Ohio Oct 6, 1833 and was nearly 72
years of age when he died. He leaves a wife and four children and many friends to mourn
his loss. He became a member of Presbyterian church in 1861 and has been a faithful member
ever since. The funeral occurred at Tabor at 1 p. m. Monday. Interment at Tabor cemetery, in the
presence of a concourse of relations and friends.
