Elizabeth Boltin, daughter of Henry and Phoebe Boltin, was born January 28, 1835 on the old Boltin homestead in Liberty township,
Delaware county, Indiana. She died February 16, 1901, at her home in Wheeling, Ind., having spent her entire life, except a few
years in the state of Illinois, in Delaware county. She was married November 25, 1860 to John L Hopping, who survives her. She was
the mother of four children, three of whom, Henry L, Mrs Eva Yohler, and Mrs Laura Shafer, survive her. Charles W, her eldest,
having died in infancy. When a young girl she embraced the Christian religion and united with the Methodist Episcopal church at
Mt Tabor and during all the years of her life she was a consistant Christian, her text being, "Be, ye doers of the word and not
hearers only." For a number of years she had been a constant sufferer, but she bore her suffering with a courage and patience of
a true Christian and was never heard to murmur. Often when suffering excrutiating pain she would smile and say "only a few days
more and I shall be at rest, sweet rest." She was a devoted wife and a kind and loving mother. Today while her loved ones are sad,
O, so sad, she is free from pain ans "at rest, sweet rest."
