Wife of an Old Settler of Monroe Township The Effects of a Fall Her Husband, Miles Harrold, Once a County Commissioner Were Married 62 Years Mrs. Malinda Harrold, aged 88, wife of Miles Harrold, one of the old settlers of Monroe Township, who survives her, after 62 years and four months of happy married life, died Wednesday night at her home south of Muncie, from the effects of a fall which he suffered some time ago, in which she sustained a fracture of the hip. She also leaves two daughters and four sons. Mrs. Harrold was formerly Malinda Rhodes. She was born in Ohio November 3, 1812, and was married to Miles Harrold August 25, 1838. She was the daughter of Valentine and Catherine (Harrold) Gibson, who were the parents of 14 children. The surviving children of Mr. and Mrs. Harrold are Mary A., Wife of S. Fleming; Esther, wife of R. Robe; Valentine, Jonathan, John W., And Benjamin F. Harrold. From 1864 to 1866, Miles Harrold held the office of county commissioner. He was born in Hardin county, Kentucky, July 8, 1860. He settled in Monroe Township, Delaware County, in February, 1837. The funeral of Mrs. Harrold will take place Friday, the cortege leaving the house at 10 a.m. The services will be held at Cowan, after which the body will be buried in the old Christian Friends Cemetery. |
