Prominent Citizen and Politician Passes Away Indianapolis, Feb. 14-Bruce Carr died of meningitis at the home of E. J. Robison 953 North Pennsylvania street, this morning at ten minutes after 4 o'clock. There are probably few men in the State more widely known that was Bruce Carr. He was of Irish parentage. One of his grandfathers founght Indiana and British in the War of 1812, taking part in the memorable battle of Tippecanoe, under General William Hanry Harrison. Bruce Carr was born in Orange county, Indiana, May 12, 1849. He enlisted when not quite fifteen years old in the Sixty-sixth Indiana. In 1884 he was nominated for Auditor of State on the Republican ticket, but was defeated. in 1886 he was again nominated and elected, and re-elected in 1888. He was a mason, Odd Fellow and Knight of Pythias, under whose auspices the funeral will be conducted. |
