Martha E. Summers was born March 15, 1845, married to Michael Bowers, March 5, 1868, and died at her residence near Tabor, Salem Township, Jan, 23, 1884. Such is the brief history of the life of this good woman. Surely christian character was never better exemplified. When the time for her departure came she went willingly and resignedly and approached death, "Like one who wraps the drapery of his couch around him, and lie down to pleasant dreams. Thus a good neighbor, a dear companion and a loving mother passed away to reap her reward. May the aged parents, the bereaved husband, the brothers, sisters and the motherless children, Willie, Dora, Laura and Edna, look to Him who promises the re-union of this once unbroken and happy family, under happier conditions; may this hope reconcile the living to their bereavement that it can be borne with trust and resignation; so speedily does time slip by, the period of separation passed and the greeting in another existance be likened to a good morning after the brief repose of a night. Her funeral conducted by the Rev. J. W. Miller at the residence was largely attended and the interment occurred at the Sunderland Cemetery.--Marion Stewart |
