McConnell Cemetery
McConnell Cemetery was located on the farm of Revolutionary War Veteran, John McConnell. McConnell owned property in northeast quarter on Section 20, Township 20 North, Range 10 East. While the northern border of the property was what is modern day Memorial Drive from Port Avenue to Daly Avenue. The cemetery was known to be within the boundaries of the Forest Park neighborhood meaning the cemetery lay on the south side of the Memorial between Batavia Avenue and Daly Avenue, a short dead end road into an undeveloped area. In 1899, in preparation for extending 12th Street/Ohmer Avenue (now Memorial) which would be running through the cemetery on the north edge of the property. The remains of 15 people were disinterred and were reburied in Beech Grove Cemetery. Among those was John McConnel, his wife Barbara, son William, and William's wife Area, who were all interred in Block 6 Lot 32..
