Rhoda A. Galliher
Rhoda A. Galliher was born January 29, 1814 in Cedarville, Cumberland county, New Jersey. In 1834 I came to Indiana with Ralph Burt and family. We drove through in wagons, stopping of nights at some house where they would let us stay. September 23, 1837 was married in Carthage, Ohio, to Martin Galliher. We lived in Ohio until April 1840 when we moved to Muncie. All the goods brought here then had to be wagoned from Cincinnati. Teams were kept on the road all the time, taking produce and bringing back dry goods and groceries. Have seen the place grow from a very small village to the present prosperous city; and have seen every rail-road and church building, during their construction. In 1852, we moved "way out" in what is now known as the Galliher Subdivision, living there for thirty-six years, then moving to our present home.
